Strong Partnerships and Creative Solutions Bring Relocation Success

After an exciting year in relocation, the industry came together last fall at the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council's Global Workforce Symposium to discuss ongoing relocation challenges and opportunities in talent mobility. Our own President, Paige Holden, joined her peers on October 24th to discuss current trends, share predictions, and discuss the critical role of suppliers in the mobility ecosystem.

This great discussion covered a host of topics that touched on the NAR settlement, relocation programs across the talent acquisition pipeline and RMC expectations for suppliers. The key takeaways from XONEX Relocation include:

Our suppliers are valued and essential to our mission. At XONEX, we are proud of our commitment to trust and transparency. This extends to our suppliers. We view our suppliers as an extension of our own team. “I want to be able to problem-solve together and have open discussions about difficult things,” Holden said.

When suppliers jump in ahead of an issue, devise a plan, and communicate effectively, it showcases their expertise and commitment. “We always share that message back to the client base,” Holden said.

Providing timely information and guidance positions RMCs as valuable consultants. With regard to the challenges related to the NAR settlement, Holden said, “Clients expect us to be at the leading edge of these things and to bring information and guidance back to them.” The brokerage community was on the front lines when the settlement rules came to pass. At XONEX, we listened to all concerns, which varied by market, to ensure that we provided guidance to clients while also supporting our partners with well-informed transferees.

Relocation activities can address needs across the entire talent acquisition pipeline.

On the panel, Paige and her peers discussed the importance of finding creative solutions in new areas, such as pre-hire services and rotational programs. “In the last few weeks, I’ve had more conversations with clients about the ability to use mobility services in non-traditional programs than I’ve ever had before,” Holden said.

Last year, XONEX Relocation planned new programs for clients, including variations of internship programs, business traveler programs, rotational assignment programs, nomad programs and more. We expect this trend to continue as companies rotate talent as a training and retention tool and / or to fill strategic positions around the globe.

Bring us new products!

XONEX loves to explore new products for all transferees. This is especially important for our lump sum recipients who are seeking affordable solutions. At GWS, we successfully engaged new partners to plug into our Relocation Companion, our tool for lump sum recipients. Within hours of launching a new supplier, transferees were reaching out. This is exciting! Any suppliers out there who are offering cost-effective, creative solutions should know that they fill a niche in this market segment. Please bring us your new products and ideas!
